Mike Whitehead

Mike WhiteheadMike Whitehead is the founder and CEO of Whitehead Associates Inc, a consulting firm specializing in developing leaders and performance-focused cultures. Mike has designed and delivered consulting engagements to many organizations, including Fortune 500 companies. He has been a coach and consultant to Time Warner Cable, Harris Teeter, Springs Industries, Duke Energy, Wachovia, OrthoCarolina, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, Community Blood Center of the Carolinas, Ameritrust Mortgage, Carolina Tractor and Keynote Corporation, among others.

Mike has served as a consultant, facilitator or speaker to Leadership Charlotte, Mecklenburg County BAR’s Leadership Institute, Hope Haven, N.C. Teaching Fellows, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Charlotte Preparatory School, The Forum for Corporate Conscience, North Carolina Association of CPA’s, Charlotte Advocates for Education, South Carolina Real Estate Association, Charlotte Regional Real Estate Association, Charlotte Regional Visitors Association, Alexander Youth Network, Council for Children’s Rights, Matthews United Methodist Church, Mecklenburg Ministries, Hawthorne High School, Charlotte’s Correctional Facility, Generation Engage, CPCC, Coke Consolidated.

Mike is an active community leader and has served as board member of several organizations including the Dowd YMCA (Community Outreach Campaign Chair), Jacob’s Ladder Job Center, and the Alexander Youth Network, among others. Currently he serves as a board member for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools' Parent University, and Queens University School of Education.

On a personal note, Mike enjoys motorcycle riding in the mountains, playing full court basketball, yoga, running, real estate investing, and sky-diving,

A vital and balanced quality of life plays a major role in Mike Whitehead's personal life as well as his practice. He has been married for 22 years to Beth Murray Whitehead and has two teenage children of whom he is 'most proud.' Mike enjoys skydiving and real estate investing, and it is not unusual for him to begin his day with a five or six-mile jog, an early morning basketball game, yoga, or a 5:00 a.m. motorcycle ride.

His days are filled with interesting people, positive impact, and purpose, and at night he sleeps very soundly.

Tom Lane

Tom LaneConsultant and COO Tom Lane brings considerable corporate and financial experience as well as strategic guidance and personal passion to Whitehead Associates.

Tom graduated from the University of Boulder with a double major in psychology and communications, followed by an MBA with a concentration in marketing and finance from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Tom began his career on Wall Street with Dean Witter and Morgan Stanley, later to become a product manager, strategic planner and new product developer at Bank of America. He was promoted to Senior Vice President of Marketing at Bank of America Securities, Inc. and was responsible for developing and executing the marketing strategy for the full service and discount brokerage operations.

Tom joined UVEST Financial Services where he served as Senior Vice President and member of the executive management team. Tom's primary responsibility was sales and relationship management with the firm's 500 sales representatives.  UVEST grew from $26 million in revenues to more than $100 million during Tom's tenure.

Tom LaneHis career took an intentional turn in 2005 when he joined Whitehead Associates, Inc. as Chief Operating Officer and consultant.  This role allows Tom to pursue his passion for leadership and corporate culture development, as well as use his experience and skills to 'give back' to the Charlotte community as a whole.

Tom is a student mentor with Alexander Youth Network, a board member of Classroom Central and WFAE Public Radio, and provides pro-bono advisement for Girls On The Run and Dress for Success. He also speaks to numerous organizations about living a life of purpose.

Tom believes in living fully and savoring the moment, and to him this includes enjoying healthy and interesting cuisine with friends, exercising, yoga and good music. He is also passionate about volunteering with kids and anything involving the New York Yankees, the Giants or Duke basketball.

An adventurous spirit, he recently completed a solo exploration of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Nicholas Beamon

Russ GreenfieldNicholas Beamon draws upon twenty successful years in corporate leadership to assist corporate, social and political leaders in building leadership platforms.  Nicholas specializes in helping individuals increase their leadership capacity with the tools to influence people and organizational outcomes in powerful ways.  He also focuses on culture development, team building, and faciliating organizational transitions. 

Nicholas successfully built numerous business unit teams during his 20-year career as a senior banking executive. His personal and professional experience in large corporate environment brings a valuable vantage to his work developing executives, business teams, leaders and non-profit organizations.

His successful career gave him an intimate understanding of the challenges and rewards of corporate life and positional leadership. His passion is to help others discover and activate their natural leadership capacities for success in both professional and personal arenas.

Nicholas has an MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University. He has served on the board of directors of Children's Theatre, Johnston YMCA, Junior League Corporate Advisory Board and Childress Klein YMCA.  His is a former board chair of the Afro-American Cultural Center and served on numerous committees for the United Way, Arts and Science Council, and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.  In 2006, he was recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as a "40 under 40."
